18 for a great '18

With the flurry of holiday activities behind us, now is the time to really pin down intentions for the new year, leaving last years energy behind as we look to improve both inwardly and outwardly for the good of others as well. Are you a planner? Do you make new years resolutions or intentions?

While I know everyones goals and motivations are diverse and personal I compiled 18 ideas that I think anyone could benefit from while kicking off the year on a positive fresh note.

Self Care :

Completely unplug often and be completely present

Say "no" to unwanted commitments without guilt

Reduce digital & visual clutter

Buy yourself a bouquet of your favorite flowers

Take a break from your biggest vice(s) (sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, cheese, etc) keep a journal of how you feel and if you are feeling great- why not kick it for good? 

Memorize a favorite poem, quote, scripture

Commit or recommit to a daily exercise, yoga & meditation practice


hOMe Care:

Make a list of all household needed repairs and updates, prioritize and plan out

Make cleaning and cooking a meditation

Declutter & purge- try the Minimalists game or play big with 40 bags in 40 days

Enjoy meals on your best china, let kids drink occasionally from the "fancy glasses" 
& watch their faces light up

Start a family gratitude jar


Community Care:

Treat a friend to lunch

Smile and serve others without expecting anything in return

Donate your time or money to a local charity

Compliment a stranger

Buy from a  local artist or craftsman

Listen without interrupting
